Welcome, Parents!
Dear Parents, As president of the Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Kappa Delta at Missouri S&T, it is my honor and privilege to welcome your daughter to our sisterhood and introduce you to Kappa Delta Sorority. Kappa Delta was founded on October 23, 1897, at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. For over 120 years, Kappa Delta has been building confidence and inspiring action in women of all ages. The sorority has initiated more than 260,000 members and chartered more than 200 collegiate chapters and 500 alumnae chapters across the country. Our chapter at Missouri S&T was installed in 1972 and is one of three Panhellenic sororities on our campus. Some of our chapter’s recent activities and accomplishments include: • Raised over $2000 to help prevent child abuse last year through our Shamrock Week fundraiser • Campus tours and Environmental Awareness events for local girl scouts • Workshops on resume building, conflict resolution, personal growth, and more! • Celebrated International Women’s Friendship Month • Various sisterhood events including hiking, painting, bowling, and movie nights I am confident being a member of Kappa Delta will enhance your daughter’s college experience just like it has mine. Our chapter is led by collegiate officers like me who are elected annually by the chapter members. Kappa Delta encourages its members to assume chapter responsibilities as an appointed or elected officer and to be active in other organizations on campus. It’s a great way to develop leadership skills that are useful throughout life. As you can tell by our recent activities, Kappa Delta is committed to community service and philanthropy. Our members make a difference in others’ lives through our support of Prevent Child Abuse America, Girl Scouts, and other philanthropic activities on campus. Within KD, your daughter will have a big sister, an initiated member who will offer special assistance to help her become familiar with, and adjust to, sorority and college life. Being a Kappa Delta is a positive, enriching experience, but it comes with responsibilities. We expect our members to meet academic standards and fulfill the financial obligations that make our chapter's existence possible. We ask that you support your daughter in fulfilling her academic, social, and financial responsibilities to herself and Kappa Delta. We look forward to getting to know your daughter better and meeting you at upcoming parent events! If your daughter has questions or concerns, she can reach out to me directly or to an alumna member of our chapter advisory board. Sincerely, McKenna SchneiderChapter Presidentmrsqgk@mst.edu
