Welcome, Parents!
Dear Parents, As President of the Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Kappa Delta at Missouri S&T, it is my absolute joy to welcome your daughter into our sisterhood and to introduce you to the incredible community she is now part of. Since our founding in 1897 at Longwood University, Kappa Delta has spent more than 120 years empowering women, building confidence, and inspiring action. Today, with over 260,000 initiated members and hundreds of collegiate and alumnae chapters nationwide, that mission is stronger than ever. Our chapter at Missouri S&T was installed in 1972, and we are proud to be one of three Panhellenic sororities on campus. Each year, our members bring energy, creativity, and heart to everything we do—and this year has been no exception. Some of our recent accomplishments and activities include:Raising over $3,000 during Shamrock Week to support Prevent Child Abuse America and local child advocacy effortsSelling more than 500 Girl Scout cookies to help local troops reach their goalsHosting outdoor movie nights, game nights, and a variety of crafting events where members learned new skills and bonded in fun, relaxed settingsLeading STEM‑focused activities and confidence‑building programs for local Girl Scouts40% of our members are involved in leadership in other on-campus organizations.Participating in workshops on academic success, professional development, conflict resolution, and personal growthI am confident that joining Kappa Delta will enrich your daughter’s college experience just as it has enriched mine. Our chapter is entirely student‑led, with officers elected annually, and members are encouraged to take on leadership roles both within KD and across campus. These opportunities help our members grow into confident leaders who are ready to take on the world. One of the most meaningful parts of Kappa Delta is the way we challenge and support each other to grow. Throughout her time in our chapter, your daughter will be encouraged to strive for that which is honorable, beautiful, and highest—not just in her academics, but in her character, her friendships, and her contributions to the community.Service is at the heart of who we are. Through our national philanthropies—Prevent Child Abuse America and the Girl Scouts of the USA—as well as local service initiatives, our members make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.Your daughter will also be paired with a Big Sister, an initiated member who will support her as she transitions into sorority life and college life. This mentorship is one of our most cherished traditions and helps new members feel welcomed, supported, and connected from the very beginning. While being a Kappa Delta is an exciting and rewarding experience, it also comes with responsibilities. We expect our members to uphold academic standards, contribute positively to chapter life, and meet the financial obligations that keep our chapter thriving. Your support in helping your daughter balance her academic, social, and financial commitments means so much.We cannot wait to get to know your daughter better and hope to meet you at our upcoming parent events! If she ever has questions or concerns, she is always welcome to reach out to me or to a member of our chapter advisory board. With confidence and enthusiasm,Danielle PerryPresident, Epsilon Alpha ChapterKappa Delta SororityMissouri University of Science and Technology
